Adult sufferers find acne is hard to face
Age lines and acne? This wasn't supposed to happen. Acne, normally the bane of teenagers, was flaring up on Kim Noble's 50-year-old face, causing the Atlanta businesswoman no small degree of frustration. "I started when I was a teenager with acne problems, and as I got older, it got worse," she says. "I was told it was due to stress and hormones. I've tried everything that was out there, from (rubbing) alcohol to injections to Accutane to Proactiv," says Noble, who has been seeing a dermatologist for years but still has flare-ups. She's not alone. Dr. Jodi Ganz, an Atlanta dermatologist, estimates half her patients are adults with mild to severe acne breakouts. "There are a ton of people with adult acne. For women, flare-ups usually occur the week before their periods; that's what we call hormonally linked acne.
Explosion of Indie Games Kills 'Best of' Column
This is getting ridiculous. Two years ago, I wrote my first column celebrating the best indie games: small, offbeat titles, programmed usually by a single auteur and given away for free. I figured I'd make it an annual affair. For 12 months, I'd scour the net for independent games that had a spark -- some innovative bit of design or gameplay -- and gather a list of the top 10. But I've decided it's impossible. This is not because I can't find any games to praise. It's because I can find too many. Two years ago, the number of people making genuinely polished indie games was pretty small, numbering in the dozens or scores. A single columnist could reasonably hope to sample the year's offerings and make some picks. But in the last two years, things have blown up spectacularly.
Call of the past
As we go through our lives, science will have a greater impact. You can look at the science, 'Wow, they can do that, they can recover the voice without touching the cylinder.' " Eventually the recording will be part of the London park exhibit. It will be played for visitors in the painstakingly restored den and cottage where London would write 1,000 words each day, his back to the window to avoid distractions. "It would be best served as an interpretative tool if it was listened to and fully explained at the park where it was recorded," Crossman said. The Londons bought the 500-acre Glen Ellen ranch and vineyard in 1910 and named it Beauty Ranch. It was where he lived, wrote, entertained friends and dignitaries and eventually died. London was a world traveler and remains an international figure.
Barack Obama faces uphill fight to win over Texas Hispanics
Obama spokesman Josh Earnest said those are the kind of divisions that Mr. Obama is showing he can overcome. "He ended up getting more white support in South Carolina than anyone thought he could. And in California and Georgia as well," Mr. Earnest said. He pointed out that Mr. Obama won the majority of Latinos in Illinois and 45 percent in Arizona last week. "The core of this campaign has been his talk about bringing this country together, and that's useful in preventing a lot of certain divisions that sometimes can crop up in Democratic primaries," Mr. Earnest said. To that end, the Obama campaign is reaching out to the Latino community. It has named political strategist Adrian Saenz – U.S. Rep. Ciro Rodriguez's chief of staff – its Texas campaign director.
