Adult sufferers find acne is hard to face

Age lines and acne? This wasn't supposed to happen.

Acne, normally the bane of teenagers, was flaring up on Kim Noble's 50-year-old face, causing the Atlanta businesswoman no small degree of frustration.

"I started when I was a teenager with acne problems, and as I got older, it got worse," she says.

"I was told it was due to stress and hormones. I've tried everything that was out there, from (rubbing) alcohol to injections to Accutane to Proactiv," says Noble, who has been seeing a dermatologist for years but still has flare-ups.

She's not alone. Dr. Jodi Ganz, an Atlanta dermatologist, estimates half her patients are adults with mild to severe acne breakouts.

"There are a ton of people with adult acne. For women, flare-ups usually occur the week before their periods; that's what we call hormonally linked acne.

Hardware High-Def Sales Split Skewed by Free Blu-ray Disc Players

Recent NPD Group sales data would suggest that the Warner Bros. Blu-ray Disc announcement just before CES 2008 had an immediate and dramatic impact on the sales of high-definition movie players, but new information shows that Blu-ray Disc may not be tipping the scales as heavily as originally thought.

Last week, Digital Bits published NPD numbers showing that 93 percent of new high-definition hardware sold was for Blu-ray Disc. According to BetaNews, however, NPD is not supporting those figures, saying that they were not an official release from the firm and not a long-term indicator of the industry.

While HD DVD did suffer some lost momentum due to the loss of Warner's support, Blu-ray Disc's overwhelming command in the new hardware split was potentially due to free player deals rather than new sales.

Giants Are All Talk, No Action

As a transplanted Canadian, I speak from experience when telling you that you should be thrilled at the chance to get Rios. He is about to explode. He's got the speed to swipe 25-35 bags (the jays put the stop sign on everyone). He is without a doubt, one of the five best defensive RF in baseball, and has been terrific in CF (his natural position) whenever he has played there. He is an instinctive baserunnner, he has improving plate discipline, and legit power. You guys are such unqualified homers, talking about Cain and Lincecum as if they are already carving their busts in Cooperstown. They are both very intriguing young pitchers with upside, no doubt, but ease up on the rhetoric. I have watched a ton of games of both teams, and this looks like a trade that could help both teams. I have very baseball-knowledgeable friends in Toronto that can't believe the Jays are contemplating giving up Rios (a 2-time allstar) in this trade for a unproven pitcher with a troubling delivery.

Eddie Bauer store closing

Paris Hilton or just a bad imitation of Britney Spears? What would you do for a clothing budget if you only made minimum wage and had to pay all your own bills. You should be so lucky. Jealous of you, no, only apalled that someone could be that shallow because they have to be the best-dressed trendy person in their office. " .

GB Special Olympics squad claims nine medals

Having already secured a Men's Doubles gold medal on Tuesday, Leicestershire's Thomas Styles won another gold in his Men's Singles event on Wednesday after defeating Salvatore Famao of Germany 6-1 in his final.

Earlier in the week Styles had beaten Youssef Gadalla of Egypt by the same score to reach the final. Scotland's Stephen McEwan, already a Men's Doubles bronze medallist, also clinched a Men's Singles gold medal on Wednesday after defeating Australia's Peter Kerin 6-2. The third gold medal of the day went to Leicestershire's Zara Jurenko. Jurenko added to Tuesday's Women's Doubles silver medal when defeating Karla Galan of El Salvador 6-2 to top the podium in her Women's Singles Division. Having also played off for a gold medal Wales' Lucy Pethig had to settle for a silver after her final Women's Singles match as she slipped to a 0-6 defeat to Yalan Xue of China.
