Toddlers Medicated for Bipolar Disorder in Record Numbers

While I am convinced that the hormonal surge of puberty triggered my bipolar, I realize that everyone is different. (But I will be paying close attention to my own daughter when she hits puberty in a few years.)

However, there is no way in HELL, Heaven or on God's green earth that I would EVER give psychiatric drugs to a child, much less a toddler. In my book, that is either just sicko, lazy parenting or parents who meekly obey a doctor's orders without questioning.

These are some serious drugs and their effects don't just stop when you stop taking the meds. One of my meds made me lazy and lethargic and was so subtle that it took me 3 years to figure it out and trace the problem back to when I started that particular drug. I've been off that drug now for about 6 months and while things have improved somewhat, I am still not back to the way I was before adding that drug to my daily regimen.

About Ken Rosenthal

The week when the Diamondbacks or Indians trade for A's right-hander Dan Haren. Maybe even the week that the Mariners or Dodgers obtain Orioles left-hander Erik Bedard and some team finally acquires Twins lefty Johan Santana.

The trade of Haren could happen first — and the Diamondbacks and Indians, two clubs deep in young talent, are in the best position to make a deal, according to major-league sources.

Once Kuroda signs and Haren is traded, the A's Joe Blanton would become the best right-hander available in trade or free agency, giving general manager Billy Beane greater trade leverage.

From every indication, Beane is poised to acquire younger players and gear toward the opening of Cisco Field in 2011. Such a rebuilding program would raise questions about the A's interest in Barry Bonds, who would fit with the club only if it planned to contend.

CUSTOMER SERVICE: Grace under disaster Hotel guests say MGM Mirage ...

Evacuees from the Monte Carlo watch news coverage on monitors inside the MGM Arena on Jan. 25, the day the hotel-casino caught fire. A consultant says companies that handle catastrophes like fires with honesty and aplomb can secure loyal customers for life.

The burned facade and upper floors of the Monte Carlo after a fire broke out Jan. 25. The fire engulfed parts of the building's facade and roof and forced the evacuation of guests and staff. MGM Mirage had to transfer roughly 5,000 guests to other local hotels and keep them happy.

(7) Rutgers at (2) Tennessee

Rutgers is trading in its trademark scarlet for hot pink uniforms and shoes with pink details as part of the "Think Pink" campaign aimed at raising breast cancer awareness.

Tennessee men's coach Bruce Pearl has hinted he may show up for the game in head-to-toe pink, too. Summitt said she's excited about supporting the campaign, but won't be taking it that far.

"A suit with a pinstripe that's pink," she said.

Tigers, Granderson agree to 5-year, $30.25M deal

The Detroit Tigers could have kept Curtis Granderson around for a while, retaining his talents with one-year deals until he became eligible for free agency after the 2011 season.

The Tigers, though, don't just wait around to make moves these days.

Granderson and baseball's busiest team agreed Monday to a $30.25 million, five-year contract that includes a club option for 2013 that could make the deal worth up to $43.25 million.

3 Men Become Heroes In St. Landry Parish

A dramatic rescue Thursday, in St. Landry Parish, when a vehicle, with four people inside, plunged into the water. Three men went from bystander to hero, in a matter of seconds. Around 3:30 Thursday afternoon a truck drove off the highway and into the Bayou Teche. That's when the trio of men, all driving by at the time of the crash, jumped in.

Clinton: Hillary has helped New Orleans

I am pretty sure that Hillary had every intention to run for president when she decided to "help" New Orleans after "the event" on August 29 2005. Did she do it and ask for nothing in return or did she do it in anticipation of getting the louisiana votes in '08. Let your actions speak for itself. If you have to tell people what you did for the city Post-Katrina, then most likely you were not doing much at all. But, if her actions back then were so great, then we would not need to be reminded to vote for her in the upcoming primary and election.
